A LECTURE ON REMOTE SENSING & GIS: The Department of Geography, in collaboration with the Career Counselling Cell, TDB College, conducted a guest lecture on "Remote Sensing & GIS" on the 21st of July 2022 in offline and online mode. A total of 65 participants in physically and 75 through Google meet attended the program. The programme started with an address to the gathering by Dr. D. Orawn, Assistant Professor of the Department of Geography. Later, the guest speaker was welcomed with a token of flowers, followed by the well-come address of Dr. P.K.Das, convenor of the career counselling cell. The resource person-Dr. Lokesh Kumar Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Head of the department of Geo-informatics, Sangam University, Bhilwara, Rajasthan, gave a power point presentation on the topic of Remote Sensing & GIS, introducing the basics of the subject, course requirements, its applications, and job opportunities. Dr Tripathi made the session very interesting by interlinking applications of the topic in our day-to-day lives and how ISRO is conducting its research and development on utilising Remote Sensing and GIS. He walked the students through a series of animated slides that helped them to identify and correlate the concepts of several geostationary satellites and their applications. The session was very interactive and ended with a quiz for students. Dr. Tripathi gifted two t-shirts to 2 students who gave correct answers to the questions on the quiz. Dr. Asish Kr. Dey, the Principal of TDB College, awarded a shawl to Dr. Tripathi to honour him and gave a vote of thanks at the end of the lecture.
TRAINING OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC SURVEY: A socio-economic survey training for interested students has been conducted by Stesalit Systems Limited in collaboration with the Career Counseling Cell at TDB College on 16.8.22 at the Seminar Room. The survey's goal is to learn about the socioeconomic conditions of the people in Asansol, Kulti, Raniganj, and Jamuria. Based on the survey data, Stesalit Systems Limited, Kolkata, is going to prepare a master plan for Asansol Municipal Corporation. The socio-economic survey needs to be finished by August 2022 as per the guidelines from AMRUT cell and SUDA.
To complete the above survey, they requested our college authorities to provide a few of our college student volunteers from Asansol, Kulti, Raniganj, and Jamuria. The training has been given by Mr. Sambaran Gosh, Transport Planner, Stesalit Systems Limited, Kolkata. A total of 44 students and 4 teachers (including Principal Dr. Asish Kr. Dey) participated in that training. The Stesalit Systems will provide an internship certificate and a gift amount of Rs. 15/-for each surveyed form to the student volunteers. The survey will give each volunteer hands-on experience gathering data from real-world fields and understanding how the information gathered can help our society grow.
