The statutory functions of the Governing Body (GB)
■ The GB of the College shall be responsible for the proper management of the affairs of the College and may exercise all such powers and functions as may be necessary for the purpose.
■ In particular, and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing provision, the GB of the College shall be responsible for ensuring -
■ That the posts of teachers and non-teaching employees, including librarians, are created and appointments made thereto for imparting instruction adequately and operation of the College effectively.
■ That the number of teachers, their qualifications, and the recruitment as also the conditions of their service are in accordance with the relevant law and/or the Statutes, the Ordinances, and the Regulations of the University as may be in force from time to time.
■ The laboratories and instructional facilities available are adequate for the instructional programme.
■ That the buildings in which the College is located are suitable for the purpose for which they are intended and are maintained in a satisfactory state of repair and sanitation.
■ That the library is properly equipped with text and reference books so as to cater to the requirements of the teachers and the taught.

■ A review of results of the students presented by the College at the University examinations is made from time to time, and that measures are adapted for the maintenance of proper academic standard and improvement in the performance of the students.
■ The GB may appoint a Sub-Committee for financial affairs and other Advisory Committees of the College. The Sub-Committee for financial affairs shall be constituted from amongst the members of the GB. In the case of the Advisory Committee, persons other than the members of the GB may be included. The Principal shall be the Chairman of such Sub-Committee or Advisory Committee.
The major duties of the Governing Body members
(a) To ensure that the College is well run, meets the needs for which it has been set up and remains solvent.
(b) To always act in the best interests of the College, rather than of the individual, and to avoid conflicts of interest or misuse of funds.
(c) To use reasonable care and skill in their work as members of the Governing Body and to seek professional advice where appropriate.
(d) To regularly attend meetings of the Governing Body and the Committees on which they serve, and to acquire appropriate knowledge to contribute effectively to decision making.
(e) To ensure that the finances are used appropriately, prudently, and in accordance with the objectives of the College.
(f) To take overall responsibility for student welfare.
(g) To comply with the Statutes and Bylaws of the College.
