The Sanskrit department of the college Started as a General course department in 1957-58 and Honours course was introduced in 2006-07 with affiliation from the University of Burdwan. The department is running by six experienced, energetic, highly qualified and updated faculty members. Modern tools of learning are used regularly in the classroom and study materials like books, notes are provided to improve the knowledge of the students. The faculty members of the department are very much cooperative, dedicated and friendly to their students. Teacher student relationship is very good and healthy of this department. The academic atmosphere of this department is very much peaceful. Now, the department is under the Kazi Nazrul University and three-year CBCS UG course is running. The department is committed to provide education for knowledge, wisdom, emancipation and enhancement of capabilities. To be trusted destination of quality services in Sanskrit study. General mission of the department is to provide all facilities regarding Sanskrit study to create the Centre of excellence in Sanskrit education, to foster excellence in research. Students of the department are actively engaged in NCC, NSS and other charitable works in society. Along with these, different activities like excursion, wall magazine and cultural programme are organized by the department throughout the year. The department offers facilities like access to departmental library and central library to help students. The study of the discipline opens up several opportunities in life-enrolment in Master’s course, competitive exams like SSC, WBCS, PSC, NET, SET, employment in the area of mass communication and so on. As a result, Alumni of the department are well placed in various government jobs.
