Department of Political Science

In 1957 the department started as an Intermediate Course. After that in the year of 1968 General Course had been started as well as from 1973 Honours Course started along with general course.
Mission:
The Department of Political Science's mission complements T.D.B. College's larger mission of teaching, research, and outreach in a learning-centred community. Through its teaching mission, the department advances offering the bachelor’s degrees to a diverse community of students. We seek to instil a lifelong commitment to learning, which empowers students to meet their responsibilities as citizens, leaders, and professional political scientists in a democratic society and interdependent world. Through its research mission, the department faculty advances disciplinary and interdisciplinary research that is fundamental, applied, and theoretical. This research reaches a wide audience through books, scholarly journals, popular media, and professional conferences. Through its outreach mission, the department and its faculty members are leaders in the college, the community, and profession. Across all of these missions, the Political Science faculty is committed to advancing diversity and human understanding.

● Optimize student levels of academic success and potential for life-long achievement in their field of study.
● Provide a curriculum that will aid in the students' understanding of the historical development of political institutions and the functions of government.
● Provide students with an understanding of the role of political leadership in politics, government, and society.
● Provide students with outstanding skills and knowledge required for professional careers and competitive graduate programs.
● Provide advocacy for faculty and students in the department.
● Expand horizons of awareness of domestic and global conditions of contemporary issues.
● Deepen awareness of how political systems address particular conditions.
● Identify and respond to the academic needs of the students.
● Strategize to meet these visions and objectives in an effective, efficient, and ethical manner.
The knowledge of Political Science is important in the present age because: 1. It helps raise good citizens and good leaders. It provides knowledge about the state’s constitution, laws and duties. 2. It helps people understand the significance of political institutions like political parties, federations and local bodies in our states. 3. In light of past and present activities the government helps to establish modern welfare states.

1. The point is that those who study political science get the type of training that prepares them for numerous job opportunities.

Our Political Science program offers courses in five exciting fields: Global Politics; Political Thought; Law, Public Policy and Administration; Comparative Politics; and local Government and Politics. You can develop a general knowledge of political science and then specialize in some of the fields that are of most interest to you and that can help you realize your career dreams.
4. An undergraduate degree in Political Science also provides you with the basics for a number of advanced degrees including Law; many lawyers begin with a Political Science degree. And, of course, with an MA and PhD, you can become a Professor and teach Political Science at a University or College.
