Department of Geology

This department established in 1983. In 1983, 18th July the Department of Geology received affiliation under the Jurisdiction of the University of Burdwan with three teaching posts. Initially this Department started in room no 03 of this college with part time teachers & a guest lecturer. In 1984, 3 teachers were appointed and 1986 another teacher was appointed along with them. Thereafter the Department was shifted to its new own building – The Earth Science building, constructed with the financial aid of Eastern Coal-Field Government of India. Since its inception, the Department of Geology providing three years Degree in Honours Course. All the classrooms are Practical classroom which are the best part of learning theory along with practical knowledge in this Geology department. Students actively participated in college sports and exhibition program. Students also take part in various events in other academic institutions. After completing graduation, students pursuing their higher education in different national and international educational institutions. After completing post-graduation, they became engaged in different responsible and dignified posts both in national & multinational sectors. The alumni members of the department are working in various responsible posts such as Scientists (such as BARC), Teachers (college and universities), Geologists (in Govt. and non-Govt. agencies), Administrators (such as Additional District Magistrate) etc.
