The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1981, with the initiative of Dr. Harashankar Bhattacharya, the far-sighted Principal of T.D.B. College at that time. The Department has one laboratory which is equipped with the basic and modern computing facilities. There is a good collection of books in department with latest titles in various areas of statistics. The majority of students who have graduated from his department have done post-graduation. At present, they are successfully employed as school teachers, in industry and as software professionals. Now a days there is a great demand for statisticians and data analysts’ industry, IT sector and other government sectors of the Indian Economy. Our objective is to attract more students and train them in statistical methods and also to aware the Indian statistical systems to meet this demand.
